Former Energy Minister of Saint Lucia
Dr. James (Jimmy) Fletcher was the Saint Lucian Minister for Public Service, Information, Broadcasting, Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology from 2011 to 2016. During his tenure he led aggressive action toward the modernization of the energy sector, including reforming energy legislation, establishing an independent regulator, mobilizing investment, geothermal exploration, installing rooftop solar PV on government buildings, and the complete replacement of the island’s street lights with energy-efficient LED lighting. He was chosen by the French President to join a select group of ministers with responsibility for achieving consensus on the more contentious elements of the Paris Agreement. Currently, Jimmy manages his own company, SOLORICON. He holds a PhD degree from the University of Cambridge.
